Sunday, October 29, 2017. Occoquan Virginia. Charlie Bean arrives by car to this town, excited to walk around one of his favorite spots to explore. Down the street is the pet baker he loves, where his mom and dad take him to get treats, like pupcakes and pupcicles and all kinds of delicious doggy treats.
Today, for the first time ever, Charlie Bean gets to walk to the pet bakery first! Usually, his parents make him walk all around the town first, letting him smell the treats from afar before he gets some. When they step inside, there are all kinds of decorations hanging up, spooky goblins and ghosts and skeletons. Charlie Bean strolls up to the employees; they all know him and love to give him pets every time he comes to visit. He is greeted with outstretched arms and cries of “HELLO CHARLIE!” He is given a bag with a treat in it, and then he realizes – I’M GOING TRICK OR TREATING! Charlie Bean has never gotten to go trick or treating before! He thought that was a human-only activity. But today, he gets his turn. Finally!
Charlie Bean and his humans take off! They walk through the town, following a map to the different local stores offering doggy trick or treats. Charlie wonders, of course, why he couldn’t just follow the map in his nose. He can smell those delicious treats a mile away. They stop at a scuba shop and a puzzle store, as well as some local shops selling food, drinks, and home décor. Charlie Bean loves all the decorations he can see, the nice people who pet him at each stop, and the delicious treats he is given for Halloween.
After walking through the town and filling his bag with treats, Charlie Bean and his human parents stroll back down to the bakery. When they arrive, there is a photographer set up, and Charlie Bean poses for a very Halloween photo shoot. Like a good boy, he sits patiently, raising his paw to wave hello to the camera.
Once his photo shoot is complete, Charlie Bean heads back home with his humans. Charlie Bean snacks on his treats when he gets home, knowing that a treat earned is the most delicious kind of treat. Charlie Bean has had a wonderful day!
Below are some pictures from the Doggy Trick or Treat that Charlie attended, for your enjoyment. Charlie Bean also plans to share his photo shoot pictures with you once they are available. Many thanks to Fetch Pet Bakery in Occoquan, Virginia for hosting this event every year. They always make sure our dogs are happy and well-loved (and full of treats!). All proceeds for the event were donated to the local animal shelter.
